Why there is nothing that can be done about Francis if he is indeed Pope of the Catholic Church.
In the Vatican Council, held from 1869-1870, in Session IV of Ecumenical XX on Faith and the Church, in the Dogmatic Constitution I on the Church of Christ we read in Chapter 3 about the Power and Manner of the Primacy of the Roman Pontiff:
[Recourse to the Roman Pontiff as the supreme judge]. And since the Roman Pontiff is at the head of the universal Church by the divine right of apostolic primacy, We teach and declare also that his is the supreme judge of the faithful, and that in all cases pertaining to ecclesiastical examination recourse can be had to his judgment; moreover, that the judgment of the Apostolic See, whose authority is not surpassed, is to be disclaimed by no one, nor is anyone permitted to pass judgment on its judgment. Therefore, they stray from the path of truth who affirm that it is permitted to appeal from judgments of the Roman Pontiff, to an ecumenical Council, as to an authority higher than the Roman Pontiff.
[Canon]. If anyone thus speaks, that the Roman Pontiff has only the office of inspection or direction, but not the full and supreme power of jurisdiction over the universal Church, not only in things which pertain to faith and morals, but also in those which pertain to the discipline and government of the Church spread over the whole world; or, that he possesses only the more important parts, but not the whole plentitude of this supreme power; or that this power of this is not ordinary and immediate, or over the churches altogether and individually, and over the pastors and the faithful altogether and individually: let him be anathema.
On November 10, 2019, an interview was published by Ross Douthat in which Cardinal Burke responds to the question about what to do about heresy coming from Francis in an official document. His response, “to be honest with you, I don’t know how to address such a situation. As far as I can see, there’s no mechanism in the universal law of the Church to deal with such a situation.” Of course, he is correct as per Pope Pius IX in his declarations of the Vatican Council.
Therefore, it seems logical and quite imperative that the focus should be shifted to Pope Benedict XVI’s doubtful resignation. Proof of its invalidity will solve the problem of Francis. In the meantime, we must pray very much for the restoration of Holy Mother Church to the fullness of Her Tradition, and for a holy, Catholic Pope.
Our Lady of the Good Event of the Purification, pray for us!
